Rain, rain go away...

It was an icky day today. Rain, rain, rain and the occasional downpour all day long. Yuck. Now it's really humid and foggy, but the fog actually looks really cool. I encourage all to run to their windows and look.
I just came back from a dinner thing at some friends-of-the-parent's house. The moral of the story is there is always yummy food at these types of functions, and people like us get to feel cool and grown up (even though I declined the sausage that the rest of the adults were eating and opted for the kid dinner- hot dogs!) The other moral of the story is that there are also always really good desserts, like raspberry pecan brownies and strawberry shortcake. Therefore everyone is well-fed and happy by the time they walk out the door (minus the squalling infant that's exhausted and threw itself on the floor accidentally two minutes before leaving). The end.

Note to Kelly: You are the strongest bravest coolest person I know. I can't imagine the strength it takes just to keep moving sometimes, and still have the courage and the presence of mind to keep a calm outward face and hide all your struggles inside. Probably, if I were you, I would be depressed all the time, which is a dumb way to be because one's father always wants one to be happy, and while it's nice to know you're missed, it's not nice to be the source of someone's deep and terrible sorrow. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't cry too much on Father's day, because even though your dad might not be there physically, his spirit has never left your side, not since the day he left this earth. And he'll be there on Sunday, as he has been everyday, giving you invisible hugs and just glowing with pride for all the great things you and David have done and all the great things you'll ever do. He loves you and God loves you and we all love you, and don't you ever forget that!

kelly is my hero simply because there is no one else who can handle life as gracefully as she can.

physically, he may not be there, but like liz said, he has never left your side, and never will.
