In a nutshell:

Too much has happened in the past couple of weeks, so I'll just give a quick run down of everything. On March 15 I got to see a kidney transplant and it was rockin'. Seriously, it was very cool. And not bloody or horrendous or gross at all for all you squeamish folks out there. Then, on March 16 Kelly and Marie came to visit me. Yaaaay! Thursday was St. P's day, so we went into Boston because we knew that noooobody in Boston eeeeeever gets drunk on St. Patrick's day. :o) We went to Quincy market and got dinner at Cheers, then wandered around for a while. We somehow found our way to the waterfront- it was beeaaauutiful- and then wandered around the North End (Italian quarter) and got yummy yummy dessert. Then we went to Tealux were the dude flirted with Marie. Heehee.
On Friday we met up with Naomi and Michael in Boston, got crepes and bubble tea, then went to Brandeis and hung out. I <3 A Knight's Tale.
On Saturday Marie had to leave, so we dropped her off at South Station, then Kelly, Naomi and I did a good deal of The Freedom Trail. It was awesome, but exhausting. Naomi went back to Brandeis for dinner and Kelly and I went to the Greenhouse Cafe and ate dinner next to a Belgian dude and his hot Australian friend. Then we had dessert at Au Bon Pain and all was good.
Sunday morning Kelly and I took the Senate Bus into Boston and took the train back to Buffalo. We did a good job of procrastinating about homework and watched some movies. The train was on time, though, so at 8 o'clock sharp Kelly got off in Syracuse and I continued all by my lonesome little self back to Buffalo where Mike, in his infinate coolness, picked me up from the train station. Then we met up with Kim and Greg Kaufman and watched Fight Club at Kim's house.
On Monday I made brownies and Ria, Kim and I watched Almost Heroes at Mike's house. (He was there too).
Tuesday, Kim and I went to UB so I could try to get a job in a lab. I don't think I got it because I haven't heard from the dude yet. But it's ok because I got a volunteering thing at Roswell Park in the Immunology department. I'll be there twice a week, unpaid, but soaking in lots of useful knowledge. I still need a real job, though. After UB Mike came over and we watched Pride and Prejudice. We didn't actually finish it, though, because we had to take a break for dinner, and then my brothers wanted to watch TV and then people came over. However, Mike and I are dating, so I can make him watch the rest of it with me at any time, mwahahaha.
I mean....I will not abuse my power.
Wednesday, Kim and I drove to Syracuse. First we got lost in Buffalo. But after we found our way to the throughway it was all good. We picked up Kelly and Jason and went to the mall, where we had dinner and walked around and such. Then we went back to the University and I got to fence a BOY! A real, live Boy! And he bruised me. But it's ok. I should have been parrying. After fencing we got milkshakes and all as right with the world.
On Thrusday we went to Starbucks in the morning, then Kelly went to class. Kim and I were going to do something evil while she was gone but we were tired and uncreative, so we didn't. After Kelly came back we went to dinner with the fencing boys, then partied it up like whoa in Newhouse. The party went a little longer than planned, so we didn't end up leaving Syracuse until around 10. But no matter. I got us home by 11:30, ticket free. (Plate light = compete crap.) Then we partied it up again at Kelly's house with the Buffalo crowd.
Friday morning I left for Boston. Uneventful trip. I saw my old babysitter for the first time in forever, which was really nice. Saturday and Sunday we visited people, then I got dropped off at school, where I did homework like a mad woman.
Thus ends my vacation.

Dyke Ball and whatnot

It's time for the Dyke ball update!
This past week was lesbitrans week here at Wellesley College, and it was good stuff. It kicked off with Dyke ball and the vote for BDOC (Big Dyke On Campus) and continued with various speakers throughout the week that I didn't go see.
Dyke ball was fun fun fun! Saturday afternoon Sara and I went to Boston for early birthday crepes and to find the Sephora store. Sara got makeup and I got black nail polish and was surprised by the amount of men in the store. I mean, there's no reason why there shouldn't be men in a highly girly make up store, I guess...sheesh, I'm getting closed-minded in my old age. After our Prudential Center adventure and some lovely lovely crepes (where the woman made fun of me for ordering a Firehouse without the hot sauce) we high-hoed it back to Wellesley and got ready for Dyke ball.
I have some lovely photos, I hope. My camera is acting funky. Maybe I'll get my act together and get a new one this summer.
There are only two big campus parties all year: Tower court and Dyke Ball. People generally get kind of excited about Dyke ball because women go practically naked and men are SUPPOSED to go in drag, although some opt for the black tie option while others opt for the naked option, probably because they wish they were women. Or maybe they're just really drunk. I don't know. But anywho, lots of people from off campus try to sneak in, and by lots of people I mean guys. I guess in years past they could get in pretty easily, but they switched the format this year so they check IDs like three times and pat you down to make sure you aren't bringing a camera or cellphone in (and I guess they feel for alcohol bottles too, although they were more worried about the cameras). And they turned away guys who didn't have a Wellesley escort. So there were no sketchtacular guys just wantonly roaming, although Sarah did get propositioned by some dude.
I am happy to report that nobody propositioned me, although one guy did say he liked my tie. I liked my tie too.
Well, Dyke ball was a lot of fun, but there was a big brew-ha-ha because 11 people got hospitolized for alcohol related reasons and NPR picked it up and it was all over the news everywhere. I just have to say, that I didn't see anyone who was completely sloshed, unlike at Tower Court where there were people who were barely concious who they blithely let in. Anywho, because of all the bad PR they ended up suspending both Dyke ball and Tower Court until there is a solution for the "binge drinking problem." (Complete crap, if I may say so. People weren't getting drunk at the actual party; if they were drunk all the drinking was occuring in their dorm rooms before, and nobody can control that.)
The rest of the week was run of the mill. I went to dinner at my aunt's on Wednesday and it was yummy yummy yummy! Lent starts on Monday, pi day.
I need a paper topic for my Anthro paper.
Next week: English paper due, live donor kidney transplant, KELLY AND MARIE COME VISIT and Spring break starts. Yay!
